HOD Profile

The Department of ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING is headed by Dr.S.Jayalakshmi. she has 18 Years of experience in Teaching Field. She did her B.Tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from I.R.T.T, Erode, Tamilnadu, and M.Tech in Electrical Power Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad. She did her Masters in MBA at Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. She was awarded Ph.D from SCSVMV University Tamilnadu. She Published –20 International Journals. Under her leadership the Department is totally strengthened.


Department Profile

The Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department established in the year 2008, with an intake of 60 students and subsequently enhanced to 120 in the year 2010 for B.Tech Programme. The Department also offers M.Tech Programme with Specialization in Power Electronics from the academic year 2012 with an intake of 18. The Department has been well structured, in terms of experienced staff and state of the art laboratory facilities.

Department Aim's


  • To Give the Students real time experience and help them learn the true functional elements of ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONICS.
  • To Give them adequate hands-on experience through laboratory work, seminars/workshops etc.
  • To Give an extra mileage to the students by training them on software design and hard-ware software integration so as to create more space for them in the job market.

PSO 1 : Develop the ability to explore, analyze and decipher complex engineering problems in power electronics and electrical drives industries.

Laboratories

Laboratory education is an important part of the engineering curricula. Department has seven laboratories which includes machine’s lab and networks lab. Department constantly modernizes its infrastructure facilities to keep abreast with the rapidly changing technological trends in the field.

Electircal Circuits Lab

The objective of Electric Circuits laboratory is to impart hands on experience in verification of circuit laws and theorems, measurement of circuit parameters, study of circuit characteristics and simulation of time response. It also gives practical exposure to the usage of CRO, power sources, function generator etc.


ELECTRICAL TECHNOLOGY LAB


mission_image ELECTRICAL TECHNOLOGY LAB IS A DEPARTMENTAL CORE TEACHING LAB USED BY II YEAR – I SEMESTER ELECTRONICS COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING & MECHANICAL ENGINEERING STUDENTS.


  • Electrical Technology Lab is facilitated with various basic experimental set-ups like connection of passive elements, Star Delta connection and 3-phase power measurement using different meters for verification of basic electrical engineering experiments. Here students can get practically aware about the basic concepts of electrical engineering.
  • The laboratory is equipped with all types of AC and DC machines mainly covered under B.Tech. Curriculum. Through hands on experiments with real machines, students gain practical experience in using various AC and DC motors, alternator, transformers, starters etc.
  • Various types of experiments related to electrical machinery like load test, break test, loss separation and OC and SC characteristics, V-curve etc are done in this lab.

ELECTRICAL MACHINES LAB I

  • The laboratory is equipped with all types of AC and DC machines mainly covered under B.Tech. Curriculum through hands on experiments with real machines, students gain practical experience in using various AC and DC motors, transformers, starters etc.
  • There are so many experiments during which students determine the electromechanical characteristics of machines and analyze the machine performance under variable supply and load in steady-state conditions.

CONTROL SYSTEMS LAB

  • Control Engineering is of significant interest in most areas of industry - new and established. Control System applications are assuming an increasingly important role in the developing world, making it crucial for the students to be exposed to contemporary control system equipment in a realistic manner.
  • To achieve the goal, Control Systems laboratory has been set up on 1st floor in Department of Electrical Engineering to provide this realistic environment. This laboratory provides university-level students with a test bed to learn and practice fundamental concepts of control systems.

ELECTRICAL MACHINES LAB II

  • The laboratory is equipped with all types of AC and DC machines mainly covered under B.Tech. Curriculum through hands on experiments with real machines, students gain practical experience in using various AC and DC motors, alternator, transformers, starters etc.

  • The laboratory is involved in all the areas of study, related to measurement and calibration. It is equipped with all measuring instruments, phase shifting transformers, bridge circuits and induction coil etc.
  • Here students learn to calibrate the meters and understand hysteresis characteristics &other important concepts related to measuring

POWER ELECTRONICS LAB

  • This laboratory contains various trainer kits from different vendors to perform the experiments like characteristics of power semiconductor devices, triggering circuits etc.
  • The laboratory also contains trainer modules for different converters like rectifier, chopper, Inverter and cyclo-converter.
  • The experiments are carried out on breadboards also, which help the students to have indepth understanding of functioning of devices and converters.

MP & MC LAB


MP &MC LAB IS A DEPARTMENTAL BREADTH TEACHING LAB USED BY III YEAR – II SEMESTER (R16-Regulation) & IV YEAR - I SEMESTER (R13-Regulation) ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING STUDENTS.


  • The Laboratory contains 8086-Microprocessor kits, 8051-Microcontroller kits, different peripherals like DAC, ADC, Serial communicator etc.
  • The Laboratory also consists of TASM open source software where the student can develop different programmes for particular application.

ELECTRICAL SIMULATION LAB

  • Simulation lab is equipped with desktop computers. Students can use the lab for the research and simulation purpose and can access the internet for more assistance.Various simulation software like PSIM is available here.

POWER SYSTEMS LAB


mission_image POWER SYSTEMS LAB IS A DEPARTMENTAL CORE TEACHING LAB USED BY IV YEAR – I SEMESTER ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING STUDENTS.


  • This laboratory is equipped with all the fundamental equipment needed for experiments involving electric power systems. The equipment available for students includes fundamental devices of electric power systems, such as transformers, power system simulator, switch gears, relay testing panel, cable fault analyzer panel & advance microprocessor based relay etc.
  • The laboratory contains the software tools used by industry professionals for creation and maintenance of power systems.

TECHNICAL ASSOCIATION: VID-YOUTH


mission

    Initially the Technical Association is under the name of E-STAR initiated by the 2nd Batch, in 2009, further in 2015 the name of the Association name is changed to VID-YOUTH and from then till date Three Anniversaries have been celebrated. This association is rising under the guidance of the chairman Dr.S.Jayalakshmi.HOD-EEE.Every year this function is organized by the students of third year guided by the staff co-ordinator. All the Students from all the years actively participate by extending their full support. In this function the Management gives Medals and Merit Certificates to the students who stood as topper in their respective classes, also the students felicitate the faculty as a token of gratitude and respect. The Association activities give wide scope and perpetual inspiration to the all-round development of students in EEE conducting career development programs, Seminars, Quiz, Industrial Visits, Paper Contests, Group Discussions, Guest Lectures, Career Guidance sessions and games to enhance interpersonal and intrapersonal skills of students.
