The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering came into being in 2008 with an intake of 60 students. In a span of 6 years, it has grown considerably to 180.

 

The faculty members of the Department are specialized in the fields of VLSI System Design, Embedded Systems, Digital Systems, Control Systems, Signal Processing, Microwaves, Microprocessor Applications, Computer Systems and Communication Engineering. The department has full-fledged and latest equipment to suit the needs of student community. The Department has several advanced and well equipped laboratories catering to the needs of not only the ECE students but also students from other Engineering Departments.

 

The Department has several state of art laboratories, viz., Electronic Devices and Circuits Lab, Pulse and Digital Circuits Lab, Electronic Circuit Analysis Lab, Analog and Digital Communication Lab, Microwave and Optical Communications Lab, Microprocessors and Microcontrollers Lab, Electronic Computer aided Design Lab, Digital Signal Processing Lab and a Project Lab. The Department has received sophisticated state-ofthe-art software such as NI MULTISIM, Xilinx ISE 12.1i, MATLAB, SCILAB, Mentor Graphics etc., The Department is in the forefront of organizing Short Term Courses, conducting guest lectures on various topics to supplement and enhance the understanding of the subject. The Department has a well-stocked Library.

The Department has a well-stocked Library. The department is actively organizing Circuit Exhibitions, Paper and Poster Presentation contests, Tech-Fests, Conferences and Refresher courses. The department is actively conducting add on courses on MATLAB and its applications in Digital Image Processing and Antennas, Digital Design using VHDL etc. with an aim to ignite strong desire towards research among student community. The students are trained on the skills required for industry in these add-on courses. The Department has been awarded with ISO- 9001-2008 certificate. The Department has established a Student Club, HUNT with an aim to promote student activities by conducting technical symposia, technical work shops, arranging guest lectures by eminent personalities in the respective fields.

The Department is equipped with ten labs, three advanced labs (Research, PLC Lab and Add-on Lab), departmental computer centre, departmental library, classrooms with modern teaching aids and staff rooms.

 

The department library provides useful resources to the students with rich collection of titles, journals, magazines, reference books, hand books, previous question papers bank, previous Mini and Main project reports. The department promises to enhance the quality of education, academic infrastructure and technical research with innovation. The institute is committed with right knowledge transfer, wisdom and creativity so that students come out with flying colours.

 

The motto of ECE Department is “To facilitate the students to thoroughly appreciate and assimilate the nuances of the discipline with particular accent on empiricism”

 

LABORATORIES

Laboratory education is an important part of the engineering curricula. Department has ten laboratories which includes Microprocessors, Microwave, DSP etc. Department constantly modernizes its infrastructure facilitates to keep abreast with the rapidly changing technological trends in the field. At Present the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering is having the following labs:

                                         
1. ANALOG & DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS LAB    This advanced lab is equipped with Function Generators, Regulated Power Supplies, Storage Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers and many state of the art Electronic components to study and analyse the characteristics of Analog and Digital signals in time and frequency domains. The modulation and de modulation techniques are simulated using MATLab2008b and MULTISIM 12 Software and are physically verified with dedicated Trainer modules.
2. ELECTRONIC DEVICE AND CIRCUITS LAB    This basic lab is equipped with all the necessary modern infrastructure viz., CROs, Function Generators, Regulated Power Supplies and basic electronic components to study and analyse the characteristics of Semiconductor devices and circuits
3.MICROPROCESSOR & MICROCONTROLLER LAB  This advanced lab is provided with 8086 microprocessors, 8051 Micro controllers, Embedded Development kits, Keil µvision, MASAM, TASAM, and various interfacing modules. To suit to the needs of the JNTUK curriculum, Programming and interfacing to the real world applications is learnt here.
4. DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING LAB   This advanced lab is equipped with TMS320C6713 DSP Development kits, Code Composer Studio, Filter Design-Pro and MATLAB Software with all necessary tool boxes. Students are trained at building Real time Signal processing applications, algorithm verification etc.,
5.MICROWAVE AND OPTICAL COMMUNITATION LAB  This advanced communication Laboratory is equipped with Klystron and Gunn Microwave benches (X band) and optical fibre trainer modules. Students are trained to measure Microwave Power, Reflection Coefficient, Impedance, VSWR and Scattering Parameters, study and apply the characteristics of Optical Fibres for modern communicationneeds.
6.VLSI DESIGN LAB   The VLSI Design Lab has improved steadfastly since its inception and now boasts of well-established research facilities in the analog and digital domains, with the infrastructure comprising workstations with advanced configuration and support available for almost all the latest CAD tools from Xilinx ISE12.4, Cadence Design Systems, Mentor Graphics, pspice, and Spartan -3 FPGA kits.
7. LINEAR INTEGRATED CIRCUIT APPLICATIONS LAB  In this modern lab the students can encompasses a broad knowledge of applying different analog ICs in Linear and Non Linear Applications and also they are trained at using of 555 timers, regenerative circuits, ADC and DAC trainer modules.
8.PULSE AND DIGITAL CIRCUITS LAB  This lab is equipped with all the necessary modern infrastructure viz., CROs, Function Generators, Regulated Power Supplies and basic electronic components to study and analyse the characteristics of logic gates, filters and multivibrator circuits
9.ANLOG SYSTEMS LAB  This advanced Lab is equipped with Texas Instrument ASLKV2010 Kit .It provides students exposure to the fascinating world of analog and mixed-signal processing .The students are trained at building analog systems using analog ICs and study their macro models, characteristics and limitations.
10. DSD & DICA Lab  This lab is provided with modernized CROs, function generators, spectrum analyzers. The students are trained at using different ICs in real time applications and able to realize the Combinational and Sequential Circuits using 74LSXX Digital IC families like Flip-Flops, Counters and Registers etc.
11.PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC CONTROLLER LAB  This advanced PLC lab contains multiple workstations equipped with computers, PLC units and other interfacing devices to train students how to program and upload ladder logic code. A digitally operating electronic apparatus which uses a programming memory for the internal storage of instructions for implementing specific functions such as logic, sequencing, timing, counting and arithmetic to control through digital or analog modules, various types of machines or process. 
12.EMBEDDED SYSTEM LAB  This Embedded Systems lab equipped with advanced microprocessor kits supports learning and research in embedded systems and re-configurable hardware technology. We are engaged in research on architecture, design, and tools for networked and embedded computing and communication systems.
